A resident of Tuscaloosa, Linn is a 1970 graduate of Jacksonville State University where he earned a degree in business administration. He is involved in his community and industry as a current member of the Chamber of Commerce in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, and the Adopt-A-School Program. Linn is also a past president or chairman of the Alabama Trucking Association, its Workers Compensation Fund, and the Shelton State Foundation.  He is an active member of the West Alabama Bank Board of Directors, the West Alabama Regional Commission, and the University Transportation Center for Alabama.
